With Blackbox, you can easily upload your files to the cloud and access them wherever you are. Directly in your browser, through the client on your computer or the app on your phone. If you use the client, you can also automatically synchronise files between all your devices.
You can also share files with collaborators or let others upload files through a secure link. Of course, versioning is built in, with the ability to restore older versions, tagging of files and file-level permission control.

In Blackbox, you can edit all your documents directly in the cloud. Open a document by clicking on the file you uploaded and make changes to text documents, presentations or spreadsheets. Layout and format are preserved – what you see is what you get. Share your file with colleagues via a secure link and collaborate in real time.
Blackbox supports all common file formats: .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx, .odf and more.

Optical character recognition (OCR) works in the background as soon as you upload a PDF or image. The system extracts text from the file, indexes it and makes it available to the Nextcloud search engine. All text, in all your documents, becomes searchable.
Take a photo of a physical document, upload it to Nextcloud and then easily search it using the global search function.
The functionality is based on the very popular and well-proven open source project Tesseract. You can read more about how it works technically here (Nextcloud) and here (Github).
Extra sensitive files and folders that you only want to access on your own devices are easily end-to-end encrypted. You have full control over your encryption keys – not even we at Bahnhof can see the files!
One proof that the E2E functionality works – that no one but you can read your data – is that other functionality, such as text editing and text search, does not work for the encrypted files. They are completely unreadable to the server.
To summarise: You put your moderately sensitive files in normal folders on Blackbox. For your extra sensitive files, you encrypt a separate folder. The encrypted folder can only be opened and read on your own devices (computer/mobile) using your encryption keys.
